All others factory made Mozart balls are obliged to have at least one flat surface.
Mirabell factory is located on the outskirts of Austrian town of Salzburg, the birthplace of both great composer Mozart and the authentic Mozartkugeln. The very name of "Mirabell" becomes from famous Mirabell Palace, the landmark of Salzburg town.
Privileged ball shape: Mirabell Mozartkugeln
The trademark of "Mirabell" has been introduced for the first time in 1976. and the connection of this company to the authentic recipe requires a small glance into the history. Authentic Mozart balls entered mass manuel production in 1920 for the first time. The original name of the factory was "Rajsigl-Süßwarenfabrik" and it produced Mozart balls according to the original recipe. Later on, this factory will become "Mirabell". The name changed but the recipe stayed the same: pistachio marzipan, nougat and dark chocolate.
It has been estimated that some of 90 millions of Mirabell Mozart balls are being sold each year and that puts Mirabell Mozart balls on the second place in the world market. The first place is still reserved for German made "Reber" Mozart-Kugeln.
